Life’s Joy

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism; all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.” -Chris McCandless

Here’s to adventure, life’s joy, and the pursuit of an endlessly changing horizon.

  1. hey guys…so good to hear from you. You absolutely saved us with the your truck at Sonora Pass last year. We all did end up finishing, myself a few weeks ahead of the the other two (mike “crowdog” and kerry “beaker”). I’m very excited to see that you’ll be out thru-hiking this year. I’m hoping to get to the kick off again this year and have already contacted scout and frodo about staying with them again. If you can, try to get set up with them before the kick-off. They’ll even drive you to the monument in the morning. If I end up going, I’ll have a rental car taking people to the border as well.

anyhoo…I can’t wait to follow along with your journey. This year looks like it is going to be another fun snow year…so make sure to bring good maps and a compass.

keep in touch and happy planning! Great McCandless quote by the way.
