We have officially finished the Butte route and are in southwestern Montana in the Anaconda-Pitner Wilderness. Nora and Michael met us last Saturday night at Butte Pass and we had a lovely picnic and they brought us resupply food. We headed out with six more days of food for the stretch to Sula. Butte was tough as many of the blue lines on the topo map were dry as a bone. Today we entered this oasis which has knife edge ridges and creeks flowing strong. We ran into Little Bug and Aaron again, last time we saw them was just before Helena. We hiked with them over Cuttaway Pass and as we descended the sky let loose angry balls of hail. It was a fast but tumultuous afternoon storm. The sun came back and we are camped beside Warren Lake. It’s very pretty. Goodnight!
